3366 - Linux Operations Engineer

OVERVIEW:

We are seeking for an ambitious, talented, and self-motivated individual, who will join a small team in a senior/SME capacity on a new contract award supporting the Dept. of Treasury in a full time remote capacity. This is a small business prime contract award and it is a great opportunity to be on the ground floor of a new contract with a growing, innovative company that specializes in custom software development, cyber tool development and operations, and high level systems engineering.

This candidate will work closely with the C-suite in a high visibility role in which their first order of affairs will be joining a small team to help build out and modernize some of the existing RHEL Linux infrastructure. We are seeking a business-oriented, consultative professional that has experience building servers, has worked in virtual environments, perhaps with cloud technologies such as AWS, and is interested in cyber operations.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Providing enterprise virtualized environment support by providing high-end engineering; support Linux-based services; and deployment and maintenance of systems supporting our customers
  • Providing input to key project decisions with regard to success criteria for system requirements, design, testing methods, and delivery activities      
  • Actively communicating with key program stakeholders regarding status of activities and potential recommendations for improvement regarding the customer's network and systems
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting issues within the deployed systems      
  • Planning, designing, developing and recommending enhancements and modifications to existing systems as well as any new systems scheduled for development      
  • Supporting management activities to include patch management and backups across deployed systems      
  • Developing and preparing technical and procedural documentation related to responsibilities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years related experience
  • Hands-on experience with Linux-based operating systems to include CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu, and Kali Linux in addition to virtualization technologies such as VMware
  • Hands-on Linux (CentOS, Red Hat, and Kali) based engineering: designing, building and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with Satellite and Capsule for Linux patching
  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
  • Experience with GitHub or GitLab
  • Experience with Samba
  • Experience with IPTables
  • Systems integration and troubleshooting experience
  • Build and configuration management experience to include Patch Management experience
  • Creative problem solving
  • Ability to remain on task - self-motivated and a strong communicator

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hands-on VMware engineering preferred: design, build and troubleshoot
  • Experience using automation tools (Ansible, puppet, Chef, etc.) to automate various tasks and processes
  • Working knowledge of Cross Domain Solutions including Forcepoint High Speed Guard

CLEARANCE:

  • Public Trust / US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • Secret Preferred, can hold up to TS/SCI

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

  • $175K base salary, or otherwise commensurate with years of experience
