3376 - Remote Sensing Imagery Scientist

OVERVIEW:

The Remote Sensing (Image) Scientist will provide expertise in the processing, analysis, and exploitation of imagery to extract geospatial intelligence. Candidates should have experience in imagery science, image analysis, and photogrammetry, including experience with National and Commercial Electro/Optical (EO), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Hyperspectral (HSI), or Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Imagery and LiDAR. The Remote Sensing (Image) Scientist will be relied upon to apply, develop, and advance technical concepts and methodologies for exploitation, analysis, technical assessments, and intelligence production of both current and emerging sensors.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with other scientists and analysts to understand key intelligence issues and provide data-driven results
  • Use industry exploitation software, including sensor modeling and simulation tools
  • Convey highly technical concepts to customers and partners with various levels of subject matter understanding
  • Complete technical reviews, consultations, and provide oversight of GEOINT production
  • Support algorithm development in support of imagery science tasks

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Imaging Science, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering
  • 1 - 12 years of relevant experience, including experience with GEOINT or IMINT processing and exploitation concepts and methodologies
  • Substantial knowledge of National and Commercial sensors
  • Capabilities to perform mensuration and/or targeting from imagery sources
  • Experience using modeling or simulation software to visualize geospatial data and perform analysis
  • Knowledge of Intelligence processes (e.g., targeting, collection, processing, exploitation, dissemination)
  • Experience with COTS image analysis and interpretation software including RemoteView, SocetGXP, ENVI, ERDAS Imagine, or similar
  • Experience with GOTS including FSTK, AGITK, MSP
  • Familiarity in coding using Python, C++, MATLAB, IDL, or similar
  • Experience with national, civil, and/or commercial imaging systems, image processing, image exploitation, digital signal processing, and prototyping
  • Familiarity in data visualization and data science principles
  • Demonstrated ability to apply mathematical analysis to raster (imagery) data such as trigonometry, regression, and linear algebra
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite

CLEARANCE:

  • TS/SCI minimum with ability to obtain and maintain CI Polygraph
